We’ll consider the different similes of the Holy spirit contained in the old testament. The old testament does not only contain the foreshadowing of Christ (Read Hebrews 10:1) but also of the person of the Spirit. They are as follows:

The dove is a gentle creature as revealed in the words of Christ in His command to the disciples to be gentle as doves in the midst of wolves. (Read Mathew 10:16). This is the form the Spirit took when He descended on the Lord at His baptism in Mark 1:10. For close to 4000 years (From Adam to Christ) , the Holy Spirit hovered over the corruption of fallen humanity and found no rest. There was none among all the masses of men upon whom He could rest with an abiding satisfaction. However when Jesus came to be baptized at the age of 30, having made His meat and drink – the will of God, He was distinguished by God the Father by an expression of delight and the Spirit descended and remained on Him.

Carefully read the following scriptures… 👇

“Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.”
Psalms 110:3 KJV

“My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass”
Deuteronomy 32:2 KJV

“The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.”
Proverbs 19:12 KJV

“As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.”
Psalms 133:3 KJV

These scripture texts suggest the thought of freshness, heartiness and blessing. The spirit of God settles upon a waiting and yielded beliver through blessing and spiritual refreshment which are essential to the vitality of the soul.
If you take your time to study the old testament you’ll also realise that the manna that the Israelites ate in the wilderness did not get contaminated by the dirt on the earth but rather the scriptures declare to us that it fell on the dew.(Read Numbers 11:9)
The manna was fresh and pure and palatable. We must also feed daily on Christ in the spirit’s freshness and power. (Read John 6:53-54, 63). When we daily give ourselves to prayer, bible reading and meditation we will over time begin to feel a precipitation of the dew of the spirit upon us, signifying the presence of God with us.

In the old testament, the oil I.e. olive oil was often used for light (read Exodus 27:20), medicine (read Isaiah 1:6, Luke 10:34) and also for food (read Exodus 29:2).
It’s ordinary usage in Bible times was connected with ritual and ceremony.

This is the reason why it was customary for prophets, priests and kings to be publicly anointed and consecrated to their office. (Read 1 kings 19:16, Exodus 40:15, and 1 Samuel 16:12-13).
Jesus Christ was also anointed with the Holy spirit at the point of baptism at the age of thirty. See…👇
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”
Luke 4:18 KJV
“Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”
Psalms 45:7 KJV

“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord , that he might be glorified.”
Isaiah 61:3 KJV

When we pay attention to the latter texts we’ll discover that oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, particularly in the aspect of Joy. In Galatians 5:22 we’re made to realise that “the fruit of the Spirit is … Joy”.
The Spirit’s anointing is the consecration of an individual with joy into the appointed position of service. This is experienced at conversion by an individual and empowers him to know all things spiritual (read 1 John 2:20,26-27).
However we must also be anointed with fresh oil everyday of our lives in order to maintain that constant joy of the Lord which is our strength and we must also like Asher dip our foot into oil. (Read Psalm 23:5, 92:10, Deuteronomy 33:24).
As long as we make this our daily experience we will always be able to carry the presence of the Lord God Almighty into difficult places, situations that require healing of souls that have been wounded by the battles of life as revealed in the life of the good samaritan in Luke 10:34, our words also being seasoned with grace.

When the Hebrews journeyed from Egypt through the desert of Sinai they weren’t lost because the Lord Himself was guiding them.
The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire were types of the Holy spirit in as much as they were guided or led by them. (Read Exodus 14:21-22, Numbers 9:15-24)
To lead them they needed Him to give them light to go by, in the day and in the night. The antitypes is revealed in the new testament as follows:
Guidance (Read John 16:13, Romans 8:14, Galatians 5:18)
Illumination (John 16:14-15, 1 Corinthians 2:10-12)
Abiding presence (John 14:16).
You’ll know that God’s presence is with you when you’re always having illumination i.e. spiritual insight into situations or issues, when you’re receiving guidance from His spirit by way of instructions through various means such as the word of God, dreams, word of knowledge and word wisdom etc.
This things ought to be a daily experience and not once in a lifetime.

If you were once here but have lost these signs of the spirit as a proof of God’s presence or you’ve not even tasted of it before all you need to do right now if you believe with your heart is to make the following declarations.

Oh God my father, I believe in your word !
I believe in your son, as my savior Jesus Christ!
I accept Him as my savior!
I believe His promise of the Holy spirit and accept Him!
From today, let my life take a new turn !
Let my steps be guided by Your Spirit!
Let my life be filled with the joy of your spirit !
Let my youth be renewed and my spirit daily refreshed by your spirit!
Let your spirit always bear witness with my spirit that I am a child of God !
By confirming my words with signs and wonders as I speak, just as you did for the apostles in Mark 16:20.
So shall it be !
In Jesus mighty name!

I decree and declare a divine turnaround in your life !
I unlock you to your season of divine encounters !
Go and prosper !
