2 Timothy 6:8 says “having food and raiment, let us be there with content” Can we actually be satisfied having just food to eat and clothes to wear? The economists says human wants are insatiable that is, they are so numerous and impossible to meet. The more a man’s income increases, the more he would seek to get more, that is the nature of man but God wants us to be contented with what He blesses us with. Do you want to serve God truly in Spirit and in truth? Then be contented and stay within the boundary He puts you. Do you want to live like Jesus? Then do what Jesus did, on earth, He sought to do just one thing, the will of His father. What should guide your decisions at every point in time is the leading of the Holy Spirit. Let Him lead you and let the word of God instruct you, He will help you draw the thin line between being greedy or not contented and pursuing excellence. Purpose driven believers are those who seek God and obey and who stay within the boundary He puts them. God may instruct Mr A to pursue a higher degree for instance, but Mr B may be instructed to wait and do nothing. If Mr B refuses and bases his decision on what Mr A is doing, then Mr B will be moving out of the boundary of God. Don’t look at what others are doing or what heights they are attaining. Seek God, love Him and remain in Him, let Him not only define your ambition, let Him be your ambition. Godliness and contentment is a yardstick to measure your worth in God’s kingdom, so ask your self, are you accruing gains or you are making losses? Mathew 6:33 says seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you. What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Choose what side you want to belong to.
